The Mini Poppins Bag is a miniature of the large Poppins bag.  If you have made either the large or small Poppins bag you will for sure want to make the "Mini".  It has lots of pockets o the inside to keep everything organized.  The wire stays shape the bag giving its characteristic shape and style.  Great size for a purse, travel or sewing kit.  During class, I will share with you several helpful tips for this complicated bag, making it easier and faster to sew, plus looking more professional.

This sturdy caddy with lots of easy-to-access slip pockets and dividers holds an organizes all your sewing supplies.  Six slip pockets on the exterior provide easy access to tools and supplies and a zipper pocket on one end keeps personal items safe and secure.  Expanding dividers on the inside open to organize a multitude of supplies or collapse to fall flat against the interior of the caddy affording a wide-open interior for plenty of storage possibilities.  Comfy padded fabric handles make carrying easy.  They attach with rectangle rings which allows them to fall flat against the front or back of the caddy.

Does your next fun project include a zipper, bias tape or piping?  these techniques can throw you, especially if you have not used them in a while.  How about a refresher class that brings you up to date on the latest techniques and gives you the basics to help make our projects a success. 

 

Zippers- Have you ever wondered the differences between a standard and sport zipper or zipper by the yard vs a precut length? How many different ways are there to sew a zipper in a bag or garment? What are the differences between a standard vs a sport or single pull vs a double pull or a separating zipper and when do I use which zipper? 

 

Bias Tape- Have you had difficulty making the bias tape for your masks? What size do I cut the fabric strips for the size I need? Does it need to be cut on the bias? Which bias tape maker do I use? How do you use the bias tape maker? Why make your own bias tape vs prepackaged? 

 

Piping- How do you make your own piping? Which size cording do you use? Which sewing machine foot is the best to sew on piping? Do you always need to cut the fabric strips on the bias for piping? Can you use piping for bags? How do you sew piping? Can piping be sewn along with a zipper? 

 

All the above and much more will be discussed in this hands on class. Samples will be completed and written descriptions will be provided during class. Supply list is required, see list. This class is for beginners to experienced sewers.

Solve the mystery of which interfacing to use and where for your bags.  Have you ever wondered what the difference between Fusible Web, Non-Woven vs Woven, fusible vs sew-in, single vs double fusible and foam interfacings?  This demo class will give you all the answers and more.

Notions Commotion:

Have you seen the latest notions and how to best use them?  There are so many notions on the market today to make our sewing projects easier.  All the latest notions and some tried and true ones will be demonstrated in class.  Have you bought a notion and then later thought how and where do I use this notion?  Bring it to class, we will show you how to use it.

Day One, Class #3

This is a fun class and inspiring for many quilters where we cut up, create, and sew the different variations.  You will be amazed how many ways you can change the Nine Patch block AND the new blocks look a lot more complicated than what they really are.  You will also be shown bonus blocks.

Note:  In order to sew the Nine Patch changed blocks in this two-hour class, it is imperative that the regular nine patch blocks besewn prior to class.  If you choose not to make the blocks before class then you will probably not complete the changed blocks.  You will receive a handout demonstrating the different ways to change the Nine Patch block with bonus blocks.  You will bring or purchase fabrics for this class and when you sign up for the class there will be more information on the fabric and supplies to use.

Day 2, Class #1

Mitered corners gives a project a professional finished look.  They can be incorporated into a quilt bindings, home decor projects, and garments.  This class present a quilt binding techinque, an edging technique, and a fold over technique for mitering corners.  You will be doing samples of these mitered corner techniques and create a notebook for reference.

You will need in addition to the supply list for all classes, fabric marker and the following machine feet: regular sewing foot, 1/4" or patchwork foot and edge joining foot.
