Learn how to construct a landscape with fabric.  we'll discuss how to use color, value, line, texture and layering to achieve depth.  In class you will make a small fused landscape (no sewing required), embellish it and mount in a photo mat.  The technique can also be used for hand or machine applique.

Project can be completed in class.  Makes a great holiday gift.  Beginner friendly.

A few years ago after learning about the centuries old Japanese art of flower arranging known as Ikebana at a museum exhibition.  I began using some of the principles of this wonderful art form for my floral applique quilts.  I call these Quilt Ikebana.    In this class I will give a brief introduction to Ikebana and you will construct an arrangement from fabric based on the principles.  Patterns for the vase, calla lillies, fern and cat tails to begin the 24" x 36" Summer Ikebana quilt shown.    Sewing machines are not needed for this class.  You will receive complete instructions to complete the machine applique.  Confident beginner/intermediate skill level.
